AdBlue Repairs

AdBlue, also known as diesel exhaust fluid, is a mixture of de-ionised water and high-grade urea, sprayed automatically into a diesel vehicle’s exhaust system to reduce nitrous oxide (NOx) emissions.

This reduction in emissions is required by law and is becoming more regulated. The AdBlue fluid in any diesel vehicle can be checked, and topped up if necessary, during a routine service, but it is sensible to keep an eye on the AdBlue level yourself between services, just as you should with any of the other fluids in your vehicle.

However, there are some system issues which can occur causing AdBlue fluid to be added.

The most common causes are:

AdBlue level sensor failure
AdBlue injector failure
AdBlue pump failure
AdBlue tank leaks
AdBlue pre-heater/heater failure
AdBlue fluid contamination
Electrical problems or ECU issues
NOx sensor failures
SCR catalyst issues
